Which skip bin do you need in Salisbury?

Size it to the job, not the pile. The table lists what each bin holds and what it costs in northern Adelaide.

Bin sizeTypical job & waste typeFrom (incl. GST)
1 m³A garage cleared to the walls, or one room emptied out. From $310.60
2 m³A bathroom rip-out, or the front yard stripped back. Made for dense loads: soil, brick, concrete. From $323.84
3 m³One room emptied, or a good weekend garden purge. From $405.08
4 m³A modest renovation, or a full garage and shed clear. Mixed or heavy, watch the tonnage cap. From $471.38
6 m³A whole-kitchen redo, or the yard done end to end. From $619.49
8 m³The whole house emptied, heavy rubble aside. Bulky but light: old furniture, timber, boxes. From $793.11

Something lighter? Skip bags in the north start from $199.00 for 1 m³, bag and pick-up included.

Every price is a no-gate skip bin, general waste, a 7-day hire, incl. GST. Gated bins and concrete loads sit above that. Much of the north tips through NAWMA, and because landfill is billed by the tonne, a dense load costs more to put through than a bulky one. Your postcode gives your street's number.

Council & permits

Do you need a permit in Salisbury?

On your own block, no. On a road, footpath or council land, you'll need a permit from the City of Salisbury, along with public-liability cover and a site plan. The good news is most homes here have a driveway wide enough for a bin, so plenty of jobs stay on private ground and skip the paperwork. Your supplier can tell you what your spot needs.

Where it goes

Where your northern-Adelaide load ends up

The northern councils run their waste through NAWMA, and its fees plus the SA levy are built into your price.

Edinburgh North & Pooraka

NAWMA's public recovery centres for Salisbury, Playford and Gawler.

Uleybury landfill

NAWMA's disposal site for whatever can't be recovered.

SA landfill levy

A per-tonne state charge, higher for metro Adelaide, folded into gate fees.

What locals clear out

What the north clears out

Post-war homes and northern growth give Salisbury its own mix of skip jobs.

Kitchen and bathroom strip-outs in the post-war brick homes
Rental turnovers and end-of-lease clear-outs
New-build waste around Mawson Lakes and the northern edges
Garage and yard clean-outs on the bigger blocks
Garden overhauls and green waste
Deceased estates and whole-house declutters
Keep these out

What can't go in the skip

Asbestos. Out of the general skip, no exceptions. Seal it in two layers, label it, and take it to a licensed cell. Over 10 square metres is a licensed-removalist job.
Gas bottles, paint and liquids. Pressurised bottles, paint and liquids belong at a hazardous-waste point, never the skip.
Batteries and e-waste. Old electronics and batteries take the e-waste route, not the bin.
Tyres and mattresses. Both are usually fine, with a small surcharge each.

Salisbury skip bin questions

How much does a skip bin cost in Salisbury?

Live Salisbury prices by bin size are listed in the table on this page. South Australia charges a landfill levy by the tonne, so weight matters as much as size here. A bin of soil weighs more than a bin of old furniture, and costs more to tip. Your postcode returns the live number.

Do I need council approval for a skip in Salisbury?

On your own block, no. On a road, footpath or council land, you'll need a permit from the City of Salisbury, and they'll want public-liability cover and a site plan. Most Salisbury homes have a driveway wide enough for a bin, so a lot of jobs stay on private ground and skip the paperwork.

Where does the waste go?

Salisbury sits with the northern councils under NAWMA, which runs drop-off centres at Edinburgh North and Pooraka plus the Uleybury landfill. Skip loads are sorted and tipped there. Those fees and the SA levy are folded into your quote.

Do people here use skips mostly for renovations?

A lot of them, yes. Salisbury has street after street of solid post-war brick homes, so kitchen and bathroom strip-outs, rental turnovers and garage clear-outs keep the skips busy, alongside new-build waste around Mawson Lakes.

Can I put soil or rubble in the skip?

Yes, but keep heavy material in the smaller bins. Soil and rubble are dense, and with the levy charged per tonne a heavy load in an 8m³ bin adds up quickly. A 2m³ or 3m³ heavy-waste bin is the better call, so tell your supplier what you're loading.

Anything I can't toss in a Salisbury skip?

Asbestos, for one. It has to be sealed in two layers, labelled, and dropped at a licensed cell, and a job over 10 square metres needs a licensed removalist. Gas bottles, paint, chemicals, batteries and e-waste all take a separate drop-off rather than the bin.

Is Tipaload the company delivering the bin?

No. Tipaload is a comparison site, not a bin operator. We line up local northern-Adelaide suppliers so you can weigh price, size and timing for your postcode, then book the one that fits. A local operator drops the bin off.
