Before you book

Four things to check first

A minute of planning keeps delivery smooth and the price exactly what you were quoted.

  • Where the bin will sit

A driveway or front yard needs no permit. A nature strip, footpath or road placement goes through the ACT's single territory process, and we confirm it with you at booking.

  • Truck access

Note low branches, narrow driveways, steep blocks or shared apartment access so the driver plans the drop.

  • What you are throwing out

Soil, concrete and brick are heavy and belong in a 2 m³ to 4 m³ bin. Light household and renovation waste suits the larger sizes.

  • Any extra items

Mattresses and tyres are accepted for an added fee. Declare them when you book so there are no surprises at collection.

Booking FAQs

Booking a skip bin in the ACT

How do I book a skip bin in Canberra online?

Enter your suburb or postcode, choose a bin size and waste type, then pick a delivery date. The price is shown before checkout, and once you pay, the booking is confirmed by email. The whole process takes a few minutes and there is no need to call for a quote.

How far in advance should I book a skip in the ACT?

Booking a few days ahead gives you the widest choice of delivery dates. Same-day delivery is offered in many Canberra suburbs when you book early in the day, so it is worth checking your postcode even for an urgent job.

What is included in the booking price?

The price covers delivery, a 7-day hire, collection, tip fees and GST. Extra charges apply only for an overfilled bin, declared items such as mattresses and tyres, or a road permit when the bin goes on public land.

Can I keep the skip for longer than a week?

Yes. You can extend the hire from your booking, and you can also request an early pickup or swap a full bin for an empty one if the job runs bigger than planned.

Can I change my delivery date after booking?

Yes. You can reschedule from your booking before the bin is delivered. If the new date is close, call 1800 847 256 and we will sort it out with you directly.

Can the skip be placed on my nature strip?

It can, with a permit. Bins on a nature strip, footpath or road need approval through the ACT's territory process, while a bin on your own driveway or yard needs none. Choose the placement when you book and we tell you if a permit charge applies.

How do I choose between a 4 m³ and a 6 m³ bin?

A 4 m³ bin holds about 16 wheelie bins of waste and suits a house declutter or small renovation. A 6 m³ bin holds about 24 and suits a kitchen renovation or a larger clear-out. For heavy material like soil or concrete, book a smaller bin, since weight limits apply before the bin is full.

Who do I book with, and who delivers the bin?

You book with Tipaload, your supplier for the hire. We deliver and collect the bin on the dates confirmed in your booking.

Can I book a hook bin larger than 8 m³ in the ACT?

Yes. Marrel skip bins on this page run from 1 m³ to 8 m³. Hook bins for bigger Canberra jobs go up to 40 m³, including 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 40 m³. Each size page lists the dimensions, weight limit and a live price for your postcode.
